Deleting Unused Indexes

When you change or remove an indexfrom index.yaml, the original index isnot deleted from App Engineautomatically. This gives you theopportunity to leave an older versionof the app running while new indexesare being built, or to revert to theolder version immediately if a problemis discovered with a newer version.

When you are sure that old indexes areno longer needed, you can delete themfrom App Engine using the followingcommand:

appcfg.py vacuum_indexes myapp/

This command deletes all indexes for the app that are not mentioned in the local version of index.yaml.
